A building has collapsed from the impact of a fire outbreak on Martins Street in Lagos.
This was revealed by the Director General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Wednesday.
The building that first caught fire, beside Great Nigeria Limited, Leventis Bus Stop, Lagos Island, was said to be a four storey plaza. It was said to have improperly stored fuel inside it.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the fire had escalated to adjoining buildings, totaling seven, as at press time.
One of the buildings was reported to have collapsed owing to the impact of the fire.
Fire men from the Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Authority Fire Service are at the scene.
Oke-Osanyintolu said: “All responders are on ground and progress is being made.
“We urge for calm and will provide further updates.”
