A Nigerian filmmaker, identified as Adebayo Adeseko, has reportedly committed suicide after killing his older girlfriend, Sarah Adesanya, in the Ojodu area of Lagos State.
The duo had a misunderstanding on Saturday and were seen by neighbours arguing profusely till Sunday morning when Bayo allegedly stabbed Sarah to death before ending his life.
In a video making rounds online, the couple could be seen lying dead in a pool of their blood.
According to Sarah’s sister, Layor, in a post via X, a neighbour had in June 2023 hinted to her about the travails that Sarah was going through at the hands of her boyfriend, noting that she was constantly being subjected to assault.
Layor said she confronted her sister about the issue, but she denied the claim, adding she also reported the matter to the Nigerian police, but they told her that nothing could be done until Sarah reported the incident.
Spokesman of Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the couple, Adebayo Adeseko, 30, and Adesanya Sarah, 36, were found dead at the home in the Ojodu area of the state today.
He said investigation has commenced to unravel the true circumstances leading to their death.
Hundeyin said on Sunday that homicide detectives from the command have commenced investigation and were trying to uncover the mystery surrounding the death of Adeseko and Adesanya, whose corpses were found in a pool of blood in their apartment at the Ojodu Berger area of the metropolis.
While Adesanya was lying face down in the sitting room, Adeseko was by the doorway on his side.
According to reports, police raced to the scene after someone reported about the dead bodies.
The police also stated that they received the report on Sunday at about 9:10am.
Hundeyin said, “We got the report after someone from Ojodu came to the station and reported that lifeless bodies of one Adebayo Adeseko, 30, and his partner, Mrs. Adesanya Sarah, 36, both of same address were found in their apartment No 8b, Gbete Street, off Shoyemi Bamaco Estate, Ojodu Berger.
“On the strength of this information, a senior police officer immediately led a team of policemen to the scene, where photographs of the corpses were taken, evacuated and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.”
