Police arrest three for attempting to smuggle hard drugs to suspect in custody

The Kaduna police command has arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to smuggle hard drugs to a suspect in custody.

Mansir Hassan, spokesperson of the command, on Sunday, said the three suspects were found with an unspecified quantity of drugs concealed in a loaf of bread.

The command spokesperson said the three suspects were arrested at the charge room of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

“The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Kaduna has arrested three suspects for attempting to supply hard drugs to a suspect in police custody,” the spokesperson said.

“The suspects, identified as John Solomon (male, 38 years), Kunle Oluwale (male, 45 years), and James Daniel Baba (male, 45 years), all residents of Sabon Wuse, Abuja, were arrested at the charge room of the SCID Kaduna.

“The suspects were found with a Bomtel handset and an unspecified quantity of drugs hidden inside a loaf of bread. They attempted to persuade the Charge Room Officer (CRO) to deliver the loaf of bread to one Gideon Amao, a suspect currently under investigation by the SCID.”

Hassan said photographs of the suspects and the recovered items have been taken, adding that an investigation is ongoing.
