Oil and gas services firm, JAD Construction Limited has been charged to the Federal High Court Abuja for allegedly diverting, stealing and misappropriation of Ugborodo Community’s share of the $108 million and N37 billion paid to the company between September 2016 and November 2024 by Chevron Nigeria Limited for jack-up barges contract which it executed on behalf of Ugborodo Community in Delta State.
In charge No FCH/ABJ/CR/466/2024 filed by the Inspector General of Police before Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the accused persons – Bernard Agbomiyeri, Rida Jaffal, Radi Sadek, and JAD Construction based in Warei are named as the accused persons.
The five count charge indicted the defendants for various offences including criminal conspiracy, fraudulent diversion, misappropriation, money laundering and advance fee fraud.
Some of the offences are contrary to Section 8(c) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, LFN 2006”, including other relevant Sections of the Advance Fee Fraud Crimes.
The Ugborodo Community Trust led by the Chairman and Secretary, Barrister Austin Oboroegbeyi and Dr Ayo Ayomike had petitioned the Inspector General of Police over JAD Group’s connivance with some persons to convert and misappropriate Ugborodo Community funds from the jack-up barges contract
Those to testify on behalf of Ugborodo Community include the Ugborodo Trust Fund Chairman, Barrister Austin Oboroegbeyi, Secretary, Dr Ayo Ayomike, other Trustees, community elders, Chevron, and NNPCL
When the case was called on Thursday 21 November when the case was called, JAD Construction Limited and Mr Bernard Agbomiyeri were present in Court
However, the Managing Director and General Manager, Rida Jaffal and Radi Sadek, 1st and 3rd Defendants were absent. The case was thereafter adjourned to 28th January 2025 for arraignment of the four accused persons.
