It’s a rout: Tinubu inflicts crushing defeat on Amaechi, Osinbajo, others

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State has won the All Progressives Congress presidential primary by a landslide.

Scoring 1,271 votes, it was a crushing defeat for his closest rivals Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes to come second and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who garnered 235 votes to pick the third position.

Senate president Ahmad Lawan came fourth with 152 votes while Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State scored 47 votes to take fifth position.

Umahi scored 38; Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers polled 37 while Tunde Bakare, senior pastor of Latter Rain Assembly and Rochas Okorocha scored zero vote each.

A total number of 2, 203 accredited delegates voted at the election.

Tinubu scored more votes than all the other aspirants combined.

Chairman of APC presidential primary convention, Governor Atiku Bagudu has formally declared Tinubu as the party’s flag bearer for the 2023 presidential election.
