At least 15 adhoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission have been kidnapped in Imo State.

They were kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday as Nigerians began trooping out for the March 18, 2023 polls.

At the polls, Nigerians are to elect governors for 28 States and members of the Houses of Assemblies for the 36 States.

The INEC was yet to react officially to the kidnap of the adhoc staff as at press time, just as details were still very sketchy on the development.

Reports had it that while the adhoc staff were successfully rescued by security agents, the materials for the election were taken away.
