Dr Tajudeen Abbas, a member representing Zaria federal constituency, has emerged speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
He won by a landslide of 353 votes out of the 359 votes cast.
The outgoing Majority Leader of the House, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, nominated Abbas for speaker.
Nnolim Nnaji seconded the motion.
Abbas, the choice candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was elected by voice vote during the inauguration of the Assembly on Tuesday.
