Nine people died after a container fell off a truck unto a commercial mini bus in Ojuelegba, Lagos State, on Sunday.
The nine victims were four adult males, three adult females, a juvenile female, and a juvenile male.
The 20ft laden container had fallen from the flyover from a height of about 25 feet.
According to LASEMA officials, “The bus was picking up passengers when the truck lost control and fell over the side of the bridge.
“After suspending the container load with the aid of the agency’s forklift and cutting off the top of the bus with light rescue equipment, a single adult woman was extricated alive and taken to the trauma centre.
“Final casualty count is nine fatalities.”
TheNewsMatrics reports that several such accidents have occured in the recent past due to poor safety measures as many container trucks fail to secure containers to the beds.
