Security operatives have cordoned off the New Bussa Township Stadium, Borgu Local Government Area (LGA) venue for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential and governorship candidates.
It was gathered that apart from the police officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the local vigilante groups were also deployed to the New Bussa Stadium venue of the planned rally as early 8a.m. for an event slated to hold from 11am to 2pm.
The rally organised by Sabi Abdullahi, deputy chief whip of the senate, was aimed at selling the candidacy of Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, to the residents.
In a terse statement, Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson of the police command in Niger, said sealing the venue was a “proactive measure” on intelligence they had received.
Abiodun said the police would not allow needless loss of lives and destruction of property in the state.
