Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) once again brought Lagos’ creative scene to life with the latest edition of its celebrated showcase, TALP X, held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island. The event reaffirmed its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most anticipated platforms for bold storytelling, innovative performances, and socially conscious theatre.

Running from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the September edition offered an unforgettable afternoon featuring two original stage productions that seamlessly blended theatre, comedy, and music. The showcase highlighted TALP X’s mission of transforming classroom training into professional-level performance experiences.

The event featured Kingmaker, a daring and emotionally charged drama about an enslaved girl’s struggle to overcome patriarchal oppression and claim her rightful place as a kingmaker, and Bookcover, a witty and thought-provoking tale about an elite family confronting their biases and learning that human worth transcends appearances.

Bolanle Austen-Peters, Founder and CEO of TAFTA, expressed her pride in the participants’ accomplishments.

“I am so proud of what our trainees are doing. TALP is giving them the opportunity to practically showcase what they have been studying. My vision is to expand TALP beyond Lagos into other cities, so more young creatives can share their voices and talents with the world,” she stated.

Joseph Umoibom, Academy Lead at TAFTA, highlighted the significance of the programme for participants.

“TALP represents the culmination of our training approach. From rehearsals to the main stage, our participants are not only learning but also practicing at the highest level. This stage is where their hard work comes alive.”

Produced in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, TALP X continues to deliver on TAFTA’s mission to equip young Nigerians with world-class creative skills while providing them a platform to shine. The September edition was hailed as a resounding success, offering a bold glimpse into the fearless and unstoppable future of African storytelling.
