Davido, the Nigerian singer, has become a voting member of the Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammy Awards.
The Grammys broke the news on its official Instagram page, while spotlighting new members for their “dedication” to music.
In a video post featuring Davido and other artistes selected for the 2026 edition, the Academy emphasised the importance of member participation in the awards process.
“Creating a song or an album takes heart, time, and dedication. That’s why Recording Academy members including @Davido, @ravynlenae, @offsetyrn, @jessiereyez, @zacbrownband, @anneakikomeyers, @miles.minnick, @mayaelizabethmusic, @damiensneed, @damarismusica, and @stewart_copeland are sharing why your participation matters,” the caption reads.
In his reaction, Davido described his new role as a “game changer”.
“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy Award process is a game-changer,” he said.
“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season.
“I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”
As a voting member, Davido will participate in the Grammy Award process, which covers both the nominating stage and the final voting phase to decide the winners.
In another post, the organisers also announced that nominees will be unveiled on November 7, while the award ceremony is scheduled for February 1, 2026.
Davido has received four Grammy nominations without a win.
In 2024, the singer bagged nominations in ‘Best Global Music Album,’ ‘Best African Music Performance,’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories.
In 2025, Davido was again nominated in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category for his song ‘Sensational’.
