Dangote Group has announced a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc to support the next phase of expansion for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

This collaboration aims to boost the refinery’s processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, advancing the group’s vision to establish the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.
Under the agreement, Honeywell will provide specialised catalysts, equipment, and advanced process technologies to enhance the refinery’s ability to process a wider range of crude oil types. The partnership is also expected to improve product quality and operational reliability.
Honeywell, a Fortune 100 industrial and technology leader, has been working with Dangote since 2017 through its UOP division. It has supplied proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration equipment, high-performance column trays, and heat exchanger technologies that support the refinery’s operations.
In addition to refining, Dangote Group is scaling up its petrochemical capacity, specifically increasing polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons annually using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene is a versatile industrial material widely used in packaging, manufacturing, and automotive sectors.
Dangote Group is simultaneously advancing its fertiliser production in Nigeria. The company plans to raise its urea output from 3 million to 9 million metric tons per year by adding four new production trains to the existing two. This expansion aims to meet rising demand for high-quality fertiliser across Africa and beyond.
The Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and promoting sustainable economic growth through innovation, strategic global partnerships, and long-term industrial investment.
