Dele Farotimi’s book titled ‘Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System,’ which legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola, said contained defamatory statements against him, has been listed by Amazon as its number one in the category of Bestsellers In General Elections And Political Process after news of its author’s arrest by armed policemen.
The book surged to the first position on Amazon Thursday morning, after it began trending on Wednesday.
The book is listed first under ”Amazons Best Sellers” with a subheading “Our most popular products based on sales updated regularly.”
Afe Babalola had written a petition to the Ekiti State Police Division where he alleged that some sessions of the book contained defamatory statements about him.
Following the arrest of Farotimi, many Nigerians have either been demanding for the book or promising to give it out as gifts.
Popular actor, Shaffy Bello, had asked interested Nigerians to indicate if they wanted the book, promising to give it out for free.
In a tweet on her X, she said, “Arresting a man over his piece of literary work tells me all I need to know about the type of crazies we have around us.
“Thank you so much, bcos now I’m going to buy that book. I’m buying 20pcs of it and giving it away. Leave a comment by saying “interested” if you want a copy.”
