The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Femi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), on his recognition as the Spokesperson in the Oil and Gas Sector for 2025.
The award, presented by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), was conferred on Mr. Soneye on Thursday, April 17, in acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution to strategic communication in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

In a statement released on Sunday, April 20, GOCOP President, Ms. Maureen Chigbo, hailed Mr. Soneye’s achievement as a testament to his professionalism, integrity, and dedication to effective communication. The statement, signed by GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, commended Soneye’s efforts in upholding transparency and advancing the image of the NNPC Ltd.
“This recognition is a shining affirmation of your commitment to transparency, professionalism, and effectiveness in strategically communicating your company’s policies to the Nigerian public and stakeholders in the vital oil and gas sector,” Ms. Chigbo said.
She added that Mr. Soneye’s leadership in corporate communication at NNPC Ltd has set a benchmark in the industry and praised his role in raising the standard of public communication. Ms. Chigbo also expressed pride in Mr. Soneye’s past membership in GOCOP, noting that he has remained a strong ambassador of the organization since assuming his role at the national oil company.
“His achievement is not only a badge of honor for him personally but also for the Guild as a whole,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of GOCOP’s over 120 members, Ms. Chigbo urged Mr. Soneye to continue projecting the NNPC’s image positively and to strive for even greater heights in his service to the nation.
“GOCOP commends Mr. Soneye for his outstanding contribution to corporate communication in Nigeria and celebrates his well-deserved recognition,” the statement read. “We are proud to have you as a member, and we pray God grants you continued good health and strength to excel in your duties.”
The Guild concluded by reaffirming its support for excellence in communication and its pride in the achievements of its members on the national stage.
