Super Eagles Captain, Ahmad Musa, has said that FIFA’s decision on the controversial South Africa and Lesotho match is the only remaining chance for Nigeria to qualify for the next year’s World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“Only a miracle would take Nigeria to the World Cup, because right now we are in deep trouble,” Ahmed Musa said.

Speaking during his maiden press conference as the General Manager of Kano Pillars, Musa explained that if FIFA annul South Africa’s victory over Lesotho, it would give the Super Eagles a glimmer of hope.

It will be recalled that Lesotho Lesotho had lodged formal complaint to FIFA against South Africa for Teboho Mokoena error.

In view of the fact that Mokoena had picked up yellow cards in previous World Cup qualifying games against Benin in November 2023 and Zimbabwe in November 2024, he was no longer eligible to participate in South Africa’s 2-0 win over Lesotho in the World Cup qualifying fixture.

However, he started the match, thereby endangering his countries chances, if the three points are eventually deducted by FIFA.

The Super Eagles are presently fourth in Group C with a paltry seven points from six matches while South Africa lead the table with 13 points from the same number of matches.
