The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 74th birthday, describing him as the “architect of a new Nigeria” whose leadership is driving far-reaching reforms across the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his SA, Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the occasion provides an opportunity not only for celebration but also for reflection on Tinubu’s enduring contributions to Nigeria’s democratic evolution and development.

He noted that the president’s political journey has been marked by “uncommon vision, resilience and strategic leadership,” adding that Tinubu has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to nation-building throughout his career.
According to the APC chairman, Tinubu has distinguished himself over the decades as a patriot, reformer and democrat, from his role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle to his tenure as governor of Lagos State, and now as President and Commander-in-Chief.
“President Tinubu’s life has been defined by an abiding commitment to national interest above personal comfort,” Yilwatda said, describing him as a symbol of purposeful leadership and progressive governance.
He further stated that Nigeria is currently experiencing a decisive phase of courageous leadership under Tinubu, who assumed office at a critical time in the nation’s history with a resolve to tackle longstanding structural challenges.
Rather than delay tough decisions, Yilwatda said, the president has demonstrated statesmanship by implementing bold reforms aimed at laying a sustainable foundation for economic stability, inclusive growth and national prosperity.
He described the administration’s reform agenda as “visionary and strategic,” noting that it is focused on repositioning Nigeria for greater productivity, competitiveness and resilience.
The APC chairman highlighted efforts by the Tinubu administration to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, strengthen fiscal discipline, improve revenue generation and deepen infrastructure development.
He added that the government is also pursuing reforms across critical sectors while expanding social interventions and creating a more enabling environment for business and innovation.
“These reforms, though demanding in the short term, are foundational and transformative in their long-term implications,” he said.
Yilwatda also commended the president’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians through policies targeting agriculture, industry, energy, education and healthcare, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing ease of doing business.
He pointed to the administration’s focus on infrastructure renewal, digital innovation, youth empowerment and local production as evidence of a forward-looking governance approach.
On national security and unity, the APC chairman said the government remains determined to build a more stable federation where citizens can thrive.
He described Tinubu’s leadership style as one defined by clarity of purpose, firmness and political wisdom, adding that the president has shown the courage required to make difficult but necessary decisions.
“As a party, we acknowledge that meaningful reform often comes with temporary discomfort, but we are convinced that the sacrifices of today will yield a stronger, more prosperous and more equitable Nigeria,” Yilwatda said.
He added that Tinubu continues to inspire confidence through his dedication to democratic ideals, institutional strengthening and responsible governance, which he said reflect the core values of the APC.
Marking the president’s birthday, Yilwatda said the party celebrates not just his age but the depth of his service and the significance of his leadership at a critical point in Nigeria’s history.
He also offered prayers for the president’s continued strength, wisdom and good health to steer the country toward peace, stability and lasting prosperity.
