Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti state, on Tuesday visited Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the monarch’s palace in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Fayose visited Ladoja days after he alleged that Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, is planning to remove the monarch.

It was not immediately clear what the former governor discussed with the Olubadan, as the palace has yet to issue an official statement on the visit.

In a post published via X on Sunday, the former governor of Ekiti alleged that the removal of the Ladoja as Olubadan would commence with a query from the state government.

Fayose claimed that the rationale for the query would be based on the absence of the monarch from the coronation of the high chiefs in Ibadan.

“I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja,” he wrote.

The Oyo state government and Ladoja had since dismissed the allegations.

Speaking with journalists after the visit, Fayose said he came to Ibadan to “identify” with the monarch following allegations surrounding his possible removal.

The former governor asked Makinde to tread cautiously in the final days of his tenure to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Fayose also advised the governor to learn from how his predecessors generated “issues” in their last days in office.

“I came to identify with him (Ladoja) because the latest issue came when I made a revelation on what I heard in Oyo state,” Fayose said.

“Nobody in this country has ever said what Fayose said has been contradicted by his new actions over time.

“So, whatever I say, is either I have the right information from the source or I’m privy one way or the other to certain activities.”
