Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected informant linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Yobe.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, security sources said the suspect was apprehended around 5:30am on April 23 by troops of Sector 2 deployed in the airport.

The sources said the individual was seen moving suspiciously around a military location and was subsequently taken into custody.

According to the sources, the suspect declined to provide useful information when questioned at the point of arrest.

He was later transferred to the military intelligence bureau for further interrogation.

The sources added that, while the general security situation across the theatre remains calm, it is still unpredictable.

They said troops’ morale and combat efficiency remain high.

Last month, troops arrested two individuals suspected of acting as informants for Boko Haram/ISWAP in the Damboa LGA of Borno state.
