Team Nigeria have won the gold medal in the women’s 4×100 meters relay of the 2026 CAA Senior Athletics Championships.

The quartet of Chigozie Rosemary, Jennifer Chukwuka Obi, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Miracle Ezechukwu clocked 42.94 seconds ahead of the chasing pack in the final of the event at the University of Ghana stadium, Accra, on Friday.

Chukwuma, who won a silver medal in the individual women’s 100m on Monday, ran the third leg and eased the burden for the 17-year-old Ezechukwu, who powered to the finish line.

The team finished ahead of Liberia, which took silver at 43.05 seconds, while Ghana won bronze at 44.85 seconds.

Nigeria remains unbeaten in the women’s 4×100 relay at the African Championships since 2016. The team won the title for the last four editions.

In the men’s 4x100m, Nigeria settled for a silver medal after Cote d’Ivoire stunned the team in the final stretch towards the finish line.

Ghana finished third to claim another bronze medal.

Nigeria has won nine medals at the ongoing African Championships — three gold, four silver and two bronze.

The championships started on May 12 and will end on Sunday.
