The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says the country has not recorded any confirmed cases of Ebola.

Jide Idris, director-general of the NCDC, had said the country is 59 percent prepared for a potential Ebola outbreak.

Earlier, the NCDC said it has strengthened disease surveillance following the recent outbreak of Ebola in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The agency added that Nigeria faces a high risk of an Ebola outbreak due to the ongoing transmission of the disease in the DRC and Uganda, as well as increased cross-border movement and international travel.

In an X post on Saturday, NCDC said it is aware of claims of Ebola in Nigeria.

“We wish to clarify that there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Nigeria. Any report stating otherwise is false,” the agency said.

“NCDC remains vigilant and continues to strengthen surveillance, preparedness, and response measures nationwide.”

The body urged the public to follow its official social media handles and accounts for verified information on the disease.
