The Federal Government has opened applications for its Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, providing eligible Nigerians with access to smartphones, laptops and tablets through a consumer credit scheme.
The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. It aims to expand access to digital devices while promoting the use of locally assembled products.
As part of the pilot phase, applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:
1. State of residence is required
Applicants must indicate their current state of residence by selecting from any of Nigeria’s 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This will be used for profiling and programme coordination.
2. Employment details must be provided
Applicants are required to state their employment status, which may include salary earners, freelancers or self-employed individuals, business owners, students, job seekers, or National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. They may also provide their monthly income, although this is optional.
3. Applicants must be part of an eligible digital skills programme
The current phase is limited to participants in the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. However, other platforms listed on the portal include Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub, suggesting possible inclusion in future phases.
4. Applicants must choose a device and state its intended use
Applicants must select the type of device they want—smartphone, laptop or tablet—and specify how it will be used.
Options include learning, professional certification, remote work, freelancing, software development, business expansion, content creation, and educational purposes.
5. Applicants must agree to verification
Applicants must confirm the accuracy of the information provided and consent to being contacted. They must also authorise CREDICORP and its partners to verify their details for eligibility assessment.
6. Applicants must indicate how they heard about the programme
Applicants are required to state how they became aware of the programme, with options including 3MTT, social media, friends or family, school, employer, Google search, or other sources.
