The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has asked all customers with outstanding bills to clear their debts or risk disconnection.
The AEDC issued the warning on Thursday in a statement by Adefisayo Akinsanya, its head of marketing and corporate communications.
The company advised customers to settle their accounts by June 3 to prevent service disruption, stressing that payments must be made “within 72 hours of this notice”.
“The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is notifying all customers with outstanding bills to settle their accounts immediately to avoid service disruption,” the statement reads.
“To this end, customers who are yet to settle their outstanding bills within the next 72 hours, by Monday, June 3, 2024, will face disconnection of their electricity supply.
“AEDC emphasises the importance of adhering to payment deadlines to ensure efficient and reliable service.”
The company said the timely payment of electricity bills is crucial for the ongoing operation and improvement of AEDC’s infrastructure, which is essential for providing uninterrupted service to the community.
Some of the debtors listed include Defence Headquarters, Nigeria Police headquarters, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Air Force, FAAN, ministries of power, finance, trade, industry, education, head of service and the national stadium.
