Mrs Afolabi-Brown was the deputy director of Programmes at TVC News. Until her latest appointment, she has been co-hosting TVC’s breakfast show Your View.

Announcing her appointment on Thursday via social media, the journalist said it was a new chapter in her career and she was grateful for the responsibilities entrusted in her care.

“This is a new chapter in my career. I am exceedingly grateful to the board for entrusting me with this all important role. Looking forward to a fulfilling experience.

“Only those who have read my book, ‘Becoming the Queen of Talk TV’ can appreciate the depth of this testimony. Thank you Jesus for always fighting my battles and ALWAYS making a way for me.”

Congratulating her, Gboyega Akosile, chief press secretary of Lagos State governor, wrote on Instagram: “This is a great development as more women are now occupying highest positions in the media and communications space, which hitherto was dominated by men.

“I know Dr. @morayobrown very well. She’s brilliant, smart, daring and tough all at the same time. We worked together seamlessly during my days as an independent journalist/producer. I can only wish her well in this new role knowing that the media has changed dramatically in the past few years and the change will be more dramatic in the years ahead.

“But it’s still a blue ocean economy and I trust Morayo to swim against any tide to achieve success. Congratulations my dear sister.”

Afolabi-Brown is the only daughter of the late Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) president, Alao Aka-Bashorun.
