President Bola Tinubu has approved different reliefs for commuters during the Yuletide across land and rail transportations.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, announced the approvals by President Tinubu on Wednesday.

Alake, who spoke with State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said while a 50 percent cut has been approved in land transportation fares, that of the train is a zero fare.

The period to be covered by the approval will be from December 21, 2023 to January 4, 2024.

And it will be across the country.

Alake said: “This presidential initiative is to give succour to the masses.

“It is on record that the masses don’t patronise air travel.

“This programme is not beyond the affordability of the government.”

The Minister said all the logistics for the implementation have been worked out by the Minister of Transportation, transport unions and luxury buses owners.
