Plateau killings: IGP orders deployment of tactical team

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday visited Jos, Plateau state capital, over the recent attacks in some communities by suspected bandits.

Over 150 people were killed in 17 communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi, Mangu LGAs of Plateau in attacks that started on the eve of Christmas.

Several houses were destroyed by the gunmen during the attacks, leaving many residents displaced.

After the incidents, the federal government promised that the affected communities and victims would get justice.

During the visit, Egbetokun met with Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, and other stakeholders.

The IGP ordered the deployment of tactical teams and equipment to the state.

He also ordered that the assistant inspector-general of police in zone 4 should relocate to the state with immediate effect.
