Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, disclosed this yesterday at a meeting in Lokoja with the aspirants recommended by the committee of Kingmaker.

The committee is said to have recommended seven aspirants from the 71 aspiring for the throne to the state government, from whom one would be appointed.

The aspirants include the former Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Philip Salawu; former Clerk of the National Assembly, Barrister Ataba Sani Omolori; Brigadier General Yusuf Abubakar Amuda; Barr Momoh Shaibu, Prof. Ibrahim Onuwe Abdulmalik, HRH Dr. Ahmad Tijani Anaje; and Mr. Ahmed Momoh Jimoh.

In his remarks, Governor Bello urged the aspirants to support whoever eventually emerged as the new Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, as they were all qualified for the vacant stool.

The governor therefore cautioned against divisive statements and actions capable of disrupting the peace of the land because of the ongoing exercise.

The secretary of the Ebiraland Traditional Council, Alhaji Yunusa Sule, said “The governor may announce the next Ohinoyi of Ebiraland as from this week.”

It would be recalled that the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister S. M. Ozigi Deedat, on December 11 inaugurated the committee of kingmakers.
