Caleb University announces date for 13th convocation ceremony

Caleb University Imota, Lagos is set to hold its 13th Convocation on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024.

The event will take place at the Imota Main Campus Convocation Arena and will involve the conferment of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees, Honorary Degrees, and Diplomas.

The Convocation Lecturer for the event will be Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, a veteran journalist, editor, and columnist with over 35 years of experience in the media industry. Omotoso has worked for prestigious publications such as The Guardian Newspaper, where he served as a sub-Editor, deputy Editor of Guardian Express, Editor of the Saturday Guardian, pioneer Editor of Comet Newspaper, pioneer Editor of the Nation Newspaper, and currently holds the position of Lagos State Information and Strategy Commissioner.

He will be speaking on the topic “Closing the Generational Gap between the Old and the Young in Nigerian Politics.”The announcement was made by Olawale Adekoya, the Information, Media, and Publication representative of Caleb University.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, stating that it marks a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to academic excellence. He highlighted the graduation of the university’s first-ever Doctorate degree holders as evidence of the institution’s progress and stakeholder confidence in the Caleb brand.

During the convocation, Caleb University will be awarding honorary degrees to two distinguished Nigerians.

The recipients are Rev Fr Hycinth Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, and the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun.

Several dignitaries are expected to attend the convocation, including His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Her Eminence, Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi of Love of Christ International Church; and Mr. Adaralegbe Akintayo of Tpumpy Estate Development.

The theme for the graduating class, known as the “Regal” set, is “Pacesetters.” Various convocation activities, including the Hooding ceremony for the pioneer Doctorate graduands, will take place on Friday, February 2nd.
