“The gunmen invaded the residence of the traditional ruler in the evening and killed him and went away with his wife,” the police PRO said.

The spokesperson said some police personnel, led by the divisional police officer (DPO) in Koro-Ekiti, visited the palace of the late traditional ruler.

“They have begun investigations into the whereabouts of the killers, as well as the abductors of the late king’s wife,” she said.

On January 29, two traditional rulers were killed by suspected kidnappers in Ekiti state.

The monarchs were said to be returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti when they were accosted and gunned down.

The traditional rulers were identified as Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti.
