Music star, Rema, has announced a homecoming concert in Benin, Edo state.

The singer, via a social media post on Friday, revealed he will perform in his hometown.

The concert is set to take place on August 30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

Last year, Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo, announced plans to host the music star for a homecoming event on December 21.

Rema, however, had to cancel all his December 2023 shows due to health concerns.

“It breaks my heart to say that I won’t be performing anywhere this December,” he said.

“It has been years of touring, I have ignored my health and I need time to recuperate. 2024 we go again, love.”

The announcement comes after the release of Rema’s sophomore album ‘Heis‘.

The album set the record for the biggest first-week streams on Spotify Nigeria in 2024.

According to Turntable Charts, ‘Heis’ accumulated 12.3 million streams in its first week.

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, signed with D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019.

Since then, he has become one of the leading figures in the African music industry.

He won ‘Best Male Artiste’ and ‘Digital Artiste Of The Year’ at the 16th Headies.

In December 2023, Spotify recognised him as one of the most exported artistes who dominated the year’s charts in sub-Saharan Africa.
