
The operatives of the Abia State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the beheading of a septuagenarian couple at Itumbuzo in the Bende Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed this through a statement on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Chinaka said the police at the Bende Divisional Headquarters received a murder report at 08:30pm on Wednesday, October 2.
She stated that the police were informed that the lifeless bodies of 78-year-old Jacob Udo and his 73-year-old wife, Dorcas Jacob, were found in the pool of their blood at their compound.
The police spokesperson continued: “Upon receiving this report, the crime scene was visited and corpses deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
“Three suspects were arrested in connection with the heinous crime and are currently under interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia.”
Chinaka quoted the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, as expressing concern over the gruesome murder of the couple, but appealed to residents of the State to remain calm and law-abiding.
Isa also assured that the mystery behind the criminal act would be unraveled to ensure prompt dispensation of justice.
