12 killed, many injured as gunmen attack Nibo community in Anambra

About 12 youths were on Sunday killed by unknown gunmen in Nibo community Awka South, Anambra State.

The shooting took place at Umunono, Umuanum village and Eke Nibo (market axis of the town).

The victims were said to be at drinking joints celebrating “Onwa Asaa” (New Yam festival) by the community when the gunmen struck.

A community leader from the town, who confirmed the gory incident to TheNiche, said the development has put the town under confusion.

“This is horrible, my brother. I have never seen this type of thing in this town since my over 62 years of existence. This is strange. Nibo is bleeding,” he cried.

The police are yet to issue a statement on the attack.
