President Bola Tinubu has received German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who is in Nigeria on a three-day state visit, at Aso Villa.

Olusegun Dada, special assistant to the president on social media, disclosed the development on his X page on Wednesday.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomes H.E Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa,” the post reads.

“Inspects Brigade of Guards. Receives the 21 Gun Salute at the Forecourt of the State Banquet Hall.”

Steinmeier was accompanied by a business delegation of CEOs and high-ranking board members.

Upon his arrival Steinmeier was greeted with the national anthems of both countries, a 21-gun salute, and a Guard of Honour inspection, followed by closed-door talks with Tinubu.

A statement on Monday said the German president will also visit Lagos to engage with business representatives, visit a start-up hub, and meet with members of Nigeria’s culture sector and civil society, including Nike Okundaye and Wole Soyinka.

Steinmeier is accompanied by a business delegation of chief executive officers (CEOs) and high-ranking board members of some of Germany’s most successful companies in the fields of IT, high-tech, and energy.

The German embassy said the crop of business leaders is an indication of the rising interest of German businesses looking to invest in Nigeria.
