The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the official fare for the 2025 hajj pilgrimage.
In a statement on Monday, Fatimah Usara, NAHCON’s spokesperson, said the fare for intending pilgrims from Borno and Adamawa states is N8,327,125.59, while those from the northern zone will pay N8,457,685.59.
She said pilgrims from southern states are expected to pay N8,784,085.59.
Usara noted that the fares were approved by the office of Vice-President Kashim Shettima after extensive consultations.
“This modest effort on the fare was reached after extensive consultations to ensure inclusivity in this important decision-making process,” she said.
She added that Abdullahi Saleh, NAHCON chairman, and the leadership of the Forum of State Executive Secretaries (FSEC) worked “tirelessly to ensure that the fares do not skyrocket”.
Usara also highlighted the contributions of Idris Almakura, forum chairman and executive secretary for Nasarawa state; and Abubakar Salihu, executive secretary for Adamawa.
Other key contributors, she said, include Ameen Amshi, special assistant to the president on special duties; and Faruku Yaro, deputy forum chairman and executive secretary of Kebbi state.
She said the chairman commended the collaborative efforts, describing the 2025 hajj fare as “a product of extensive collaboration with all stakeholders”.
He urged prospective pilgrims to adhere to timelines, follow Saudi Arabia’s guidelines, and make early payments to avoid inconveniences.
In 2024, NAHCON pegged the hajj fare at N4.5 million, up from the N2.9 million paid by pilgrims in 2023.
The fare was later raised to N4.9 million and eventually adjusted to N8.5 million for fresh registrations, while pilgrims with deposits paid N6.8 million.
