Nigeria is on the verge of a critical education crisis, with over 18.3 million children currently out of school, the highest number globally, according to UNICEF. This staggering figure represents more than just a statistic—it highlights a looming national emergency with far-reaching consequences for the country’s security, economic growth, and future stability.

“Every child denied access to education faces greater risks of poverty, exploitation, and involvement in crime,” warned Ibironke Adeagbo, founder of IA-Foundation, a UK-based educational charity. “This crisis erodes our human capital, stifles innovation, and deepens insecurity. If we do not act now, the consequences will be catastrophic.”

To address this dire situation, IA-Foundation has launched various initiatives aimed at transforming lives through education. The organization has so far re-enrolled over 100 children into schools through its Street to School program, distributed more than 5,000 educational materials to underserved communities, and conducted six advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about the crisis. Additionally, the Foundation has installed boreholes in schools, providing clean water access to over 4,000 students.

“This is more than a statistic; it’s a national emergency,” said Laura Ede, CEO of IA-Foundation. “Every child we fail to educate is a future we compromise. At IA-Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the right to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society.”

To intensify efforts to tackle Nigeria’s education crisis, IA-Foundation is hosting its 6th Annual Charity Gala on April 26, 2025, at DoubleTree by Hilton, Docklands Riverside, London. The event aims to unite changemakers, philanthropists, and education advocates to raise critical funds and awareness for the cause.

Early bird tickets are available for £90 until February 28, with standard tickets priced at £100 afterward. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear compelling stories from beneficiaries, keynote speeches by education advocates, enjoy live entertainment, and participate in an exclusive auction.

“The Gala is more than an event—it’s a movement,” added Ede. “Education transforms lives and communities. By coming together, we can rewrite the story for millions of Nigerian children.”

IA-Foundation is calling on individuals, corporate leaders, and organizations to join the fight against Nigeria’s education crisis. Contributions to the Foundation’s programs help remove barriers to education and unlock opportunities for vulnerable children.

IA-Foundation is a UK-registered charity dedicated to transforming lives through education in Nigeria and across Africa. By providing scholarships, conducting advocacy campaigns, and engaging with communities, the Foundation aims to empower children to access quality education and break the cycle of poverty.
