A photo of legendary juju musician King Sunny Ade (KSA) at a recent party has surfaced, putting to rest speculation about his alleged abduction.

The picture, shared on Facebook by UK-based human capital development expert Dayo Olomu, shows King Sunny Ade with a man identified as Barrister Abbs Ameen at a Lagos event. According to Olomu, the image was taken on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at an “Owambe” party.

“My Dear Brother, London-based Barrister Abbs Ameen chopping life at an Owambe party in Lagos last weekend (Saturday, 26 April 2025 to be precise) with the King of Juju Music, King Sunny Ade,” Olomu wrote.

The photo emerged amidst allegations by Damilola Adegeye, one of KSA’s daughters, who accused her step-brother, Dayo Adegeye, of holding their father hostage and mismanaging his affairs. Damilola alleged on social media that Dayo had been booking events for their father without honouring the engagements, while also keeping him away from family and administering medications to control him.

She further accused Dayo of financial misconduct, demanding his arrest and accountability for “stealing” from their father.

In response, Dayo denied the allegations, asserting that King Sunny Ade is hale and hearty. Speaking to The PUNCH, Dayo explained that his father performed at a 60th birthday party on April 26 in Victoria Island, Lagos, and is scheduled to perform in Akure on May 1.

“The allegation is false,” Dayo said. “She (Damilola) is not in the right frame of mind for her to have made those posts. Dad is fine and doing what he loves – performing. He will also release a statement within 24 hours to address these claims.”

Dayo clarified that he is not KSA’s official manager but has been assisting his father temporarily in managing his affairs. “This is like paying him back for all the things he has done for me,” he said. “He loves going on stage, and we cannot stop him from doing what he enjoys.”

Another son of the music icon, David, corroborated Dayo’s claims, describing Damilola’s allegations as baseless. “Daddy is fine,” he told The PUNCH. “He is not working under duress. He just finished an event, and I can confirm with evidence that he is doing well.”
