Winners have emerged at the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) held on Saturday at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with Seven Doors emerging as one of the most awarded productions of the night.

The film won Best Lead Actor (Femi Adebayo), Best Lead Actress (Chioma Chukwuka), and Best Score/Music (Tolu Obanro).

Speaking after receiving his award, Adebayo expressed surprise and gratitude. “I never saw this coming. I’ve been putting effort and paying attention to details, and this award is coming to tell me that I am appreciated,” he said.

“I am going to celebrate in a special way with the cast and crew because Seven Doors produced the Best Actor and Best Actress, and we also won Best Sound. This award means motivation, it means to do more.”

Veteran actors Nkem Owoh and Sani Mu’azu were recognised with Lifetime Achievement Awards, while Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award.

Mercy Aigbe won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride. “I’m so happy my hard work and sleepless nights eventually paid off. This is my second win since 2014, it feels so good to get this kind of recognition,” she said. “This award will shape my next projects for excellence.”

The Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) award went to Lisabi: The Uprising, with actors Adedimeji Lateef and Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji named as recipients.

“We keep raising the scale and bar every year, you can see how much the world is celebrating with us.” Lateef said during his acceptance speech.

Other key winners included Gabriel Afolayan (Best Supporting Actor), Iyo Prosper Adokiye (Best Digital Content Creator), Leo Purman (Best Cinematography), Blessing Uzzi (Best Writing and Best Movie for Freedom Way), and Awam Amkpa (Best Director for The Man Died).

The event also presented awards in technical categories such as editing, makeup, art direction, sound design, and costume, with multiple productions receiving recognition across various segments.

The AMVCA is organised annually by MultiChoice and Africa Magic to honour outstanding achievements in African film and television.
