The leaders of the United Kingdom (UK), France, and Canada have threatened to take “concrete actions” if Israel does not stop its renewed military offensive in Gaza.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli prime minister, said the Jewish nation plans to “take control of the entire Gaza Strip”.

Netanyahu spoke on Monday, just hours after Israel launched an extensive ground operation in Gaza.

Israel has also narrowed the passage of aid into Gaza.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said over 100 people were killed overnight, with the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza destroyed.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Mark Carney, Canadian prime minister, reacted to the fresh offensive in a statement.

The European leaders condemned Israel’s actions as “wholly disproportionate”, adding that the “level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable”.

“We will not stand by while the Netanyahu Government pursues these egregious actions. If Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and lift its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response,” the statement reads.

They described the Israeli government’s “denial of essential humanitarian assistance” as “unacceptable” and said it risked breaching international humanitarian law.

The leaders warned that Israel’s actions could prompt targeted sanctions.
