Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom, has blamed “political detractors” for his daughter’s outburst against him.

A video of Jane Ufot, daughter of Eno, seemingly accusing her dad of “sacrificing” Patience, her late mother, has been making the round on social media.

Patience Umo Eno died on September 27, 2024, after an illness.

“Daddy please. Let us talk before this thing destroys. I’m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I’m not,” Ufot said in the viral clip.

Afterwards, Ufot told her daughter to repeat the following words after her: “Grandpa, do you want them to kill us? Do you want them to die like my brother and baby brother died?

“If I die today or my daughter dies… if we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go scot free.”

Responding to the allegation on Saturday, Eno said the timing of the video speaks volumes, adding that the clip was recorded shortly after his wife passed in 2024.

He also put Ufot’s outburst down to the trauma of losing her mum at the time.

“We are in political times, so you expect more of that. My family is intact and the event they were talking about happened immediately after my wife passed away last year,” he said.

“Why is it surfacing now and on the eve of the second year anniversary that we are celebrating the milestones that we have achieved? This means there are detractors around.

“My family is intact. The pressure kids go through when they lose a loved one could be traumatic and all I can appeal to the public is that they shouldn’t bring back sad memories.

“It is enough that I have lost my wife and I pray they allow her peaceful soul to rest. I can’t be distracted. I remain focused and continue to serve Akwa Ibom people.”

Eno recently announced that he was leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
