Professor Wasiu Olayide Lawal, University Librarian at the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, has paid tribute to Alhaji Bade Adeshina on the occasion of his conferment of a Doctor of Management Science (Honoris Causa) in Entrepreneurial Finance and Management by Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo.

In a detailed commendation, Lawal described the honour as a “well-earned recognition of excellence” reflecting Adeshina’s decades-long dedication to Nigeria’s financial sector, public governance, and institutional development.
The award was unanimously approved by the Senate of Edwin Clark University during an Emergency Meeting on 27 October 2025, underscoring the broad consensus on Adeshina’s impactful contributions. The degree will be conferred during the university’s combined convocation ceremony covering its 4th to 7th convocations, celebrating a distinguished legacy that continues to shape Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
Lawal outlined Adeshina’s strong academic foundations, highlighting his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Finance from the University of Lagos and his professional certification as a Treasury Dealer through the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Financial Market Dealers Association. His professional recognition includes fellowships from several prestigious bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria, Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers, Institute of Directors Nigeria, and Nigerian Institute of Management. These fellowships, according to Professor Lawal, attest to Adeshina’s commitment to ethical standards, professional excellence, and lifelong learning.
The professor also detailed Adeshina’s multifaceted career spanning commercial and investment banking, discount house operations, pension and asset management, and strategic governance. As Chairman and Director of various reputable organizations, Adeshina has been a pivotal figure promoting governance reforms and institutional resilience.
Lawal gave special emphasis to Adeshina’s service as Special Adviser on Economic Planning, Budget and Development to the Government of Osun State, where he played a significant role in fiscal framework strengthening and development planning, contributing to sustained public welfare and evidence-driven governance.
Beyond his professional achievements, Adeshina’s profile includes executive training at Harvard Business School and governance roles such as membership on the Governing Council of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). His civic recognition includes the Muslim traditional title Saraki Adini of Osogboland, conferred for his contributions to the Muslim community and regional development.
Lawal described Adeshina as a leader defined by integrity, humility, and purposeful service. He noted personal experiences of Adeshina’s generosity and encouragement, emphasizing that his philanthropy is motivated by sincere commitment rather than desire for acclaim.
The honorary degree from Edwin Clark University, Professor Lawal stressed, acknowledges a life marked by exceptional contributions to finance, management, ethical governance, public-sector development, economic planning, and mentorship of academia.
He concluded that Alhaji Bade Adeshina’s legacy offers a powerful inspiration to young professionals and leaders striving for competence and character in service to Nigeria’s progress.
“Congratulations, Alhaji Bade Adeshina,” Professor Lawal declared. “Your journey is a source of honour to the financial sector, public service, and the nation. This recognition rightly cements your place among Nigeria’s most esteemed leaders. May your example continue to inspire generations to come.”
