The Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF) has filed an open petition to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, demanding the immediate arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Nurse Fagoyinbo Abosede, Head of Nursing Services (HNS) at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abeokuta, for the alleged brutal assault and attempted murder of CNO Nurse Odusola Oluwakemi.
The incident, which occurred on January 15, 2026, within the hospital premises, has sparked outrage among healthcare workers, with the forum describing it as a life-threatening attack that demands urgent police intervention.

According to the petition signed by Nurse Thomas Abiodun Olamide on behalf of ENF, the altercation began when doctors approached Nurse Odusola, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), requesting water for a medical procedure. She reportedly explained that no water was available due to an ongoing strike by non-clinical workers. Hospital management, including the Chief Medical Director (CMD), intervened by arranging a temporary water supply.
Despite this resolution, Nurse Odusola was summoned for questioning. During the session, Nurse Fagoyinbo allegedly confronted her aggressively, demanding to know why water had not been provided. The CNO politely clarified that water provision fell outside nursing duties, which focus on clinical responsibilities.
The petition alleges that Nurse Fagoyinbo then “violently charged at her and pushed her, causing her to fall and lose consciousness,” resulting in bleeding from her mouth, nose, and ears—signs of severe internal injury. The victim was rushed to the staff clinic, treated, and discharged with rest advice.
Worse still, while Nurse Odusola was recovering on her sickbed, the HNS allegedly continued threatening and harassing her, triggering a relapse with fresh bleeding from the same orifices. ENF described this as “recklessness, malice, and disregard for human life.”
Serious criminal allegations
The forum cited several sections of the Criminal Code Act to underline the gravity of the offences:
Assault Occasioning Harm: Section 355, which deems unlawful assault causing harm a felony.
Grievous Harm: Sections 335 and 338, covering injuries endangering life or causing serious bodily harm, such as the victim’s bleeding.
Attempted Murder: Section 320, for acts like the forceful push and loss of consciousness that could reasonably lead to death.
Threat to Life and Criminal Intimidation: Ongoing harassment while the victim recovered.
ENF insisted these are not mere workplace disputes but felonies within the Nigeria Police Force’s purview.
Five-point demand
In firm demands addressed to the Commissioner at Eleweran, Abeokuta, the forum called for:
Immediate arrest of Nurse Fagoyinbo Abosede for assault and attempted murder.
Thorough, impartial investigation.
Prosecution in a competent court.
Protection for victim Nurse Odusola against further threats.
Safeguards for witnesses, including other nurses.
The group warned that ignoring the matter would signal impunity for violence and abuse of power, especially against stressed healthcare workers. ENF expressed confidence in the police to uphold the rule of law.
Neither FMC Abeokuta management nor Nurse Fagoyinbo responded to inquiries at press time. Ogun Police Command has yet to comment officially.
