The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu on Tuesday visited survivors of the bombings in Maiduguri, the Borno capital, and assessed security at key attack sites.

The Borno state police command confirmed that 23 persons were killed, and 108 others injured in bomb blasts across three locations in Maiduguri on Monday.

The explosions, which occurred at about 7:24pm, targeted a main market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office flyover.

He met with the injured and their families and commiserated with victims, assuring them that the police are working to identify and dismantle networks behind the attacks.

The IGP also visited the Monday Market, one of the sites targeted by the terrorists, for an on-the-spot security assessment.

Disu, during the visit, interacted with local security personnel to review operational preparedness and strengthen coordinated response measures.

The IGP also visited the Borno state government house and the police command headquarters in Maiduguri as part of engagements to enhance collaboration between federal and state security agencies.

He was quoted as saying security has been strengthened across Maiduguri and nearby areas, with more patrols, closer monitoring, and joint operations to prevent further attacks.
