The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has approved a dedicated Scheme of Service for the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), marking a major institutional milestone for the agency.

NIMC said the approval, the first of its kind for the Commission, is expected to strengthen its operational framework and provide clear guidelines for career progression, staff development and organisational growth.

According to the Commission, the Scheme of Service is part of ongoing reforms being championed by its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, to reposition NIMC as a modern, efficient and globally competitive institution.

The approved framework provides detailed guidelines on staff cadres, promotion pathways, organisational structure, job functions, qualification requirements and professional standards. It is also aligned with Public Service Rules and international best practices in human resource management.

Speaking during the formal presentation of the approval, Deputy Director, Scheme of Service, Organisational Design Department, OHCSF, Mr. Imirhe Gabriel Nwagolo, commended NIMC for its commitment to institutional excellence.

He noted that the Commission is among a select number of federal agencies that have successfully secured approval for a dedicated Scheme of Service.

Representing the Director-General at the event, the Head of Human Capital Management at NIMC, Mrs. Rhoda Jackden, expressed appreciation to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for the approval.

She described the development as a significant milestone for the Commission and reaffirmed NIMC’s commitment to the effective implementation of the new Scheme.

The Commission said the approved Scheme of Service introduces new Enrolment, Card and Commercial cadres alongside existing cadres, with the aim of enhancing service delivery and supporting the agency’s mandate of identity management.

NIMC added that the development aligns with its broader reform agenda and efforts to strengthen institutional capacity in support of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
