The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba area of the state.

The command, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

According to Babaseyi, a resident had raised an alarm over suspicious movements around the premises on Sunday, prompting police officers to visit the house.

Babaseyi stated that preliminary findings showed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the residence.

He added that the corpse of the security guard was first discovered at his duty post, while the body of the retired broadcaster was later found inside her apartment.

According to him, the deceased’s vehicle was also discovered missing from the compound, raising further suspicion of foul play.

He stated, “Police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where preliminary assessment revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance.

“During a thorough search of the premises, the corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment.

“The victim’s vehicle was also observed missing from the premises.”

Babaseyi noted that the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident, with detectives intensifying efforts to track down those responsible.

He noted that intelligence-led operations and surveillance had been extended to strategic locations as part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deaths and recover the stolen vehicle.

Meanwhile, he expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, the management of OGTV, and members of the media community, describing the incident as tragic.

The command also urged residents to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.

In September 2025 that the Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed that a security guard and an ARISE News Channel presenter, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, were killed by suspected armed robbers in the Katampe area of Abuja.

The management of ARISE News Channel, while announcing her death, said armed robbers had attacked her residence, leading to her death.

In January, police said that 11 suspects linked to the incident were arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory court for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder.
