Jude Bellingham scored twice, including an extra-time winner to ensure England secured a 2-1 win over Norway in their 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final match at the Miami stadium.

The midfielder ensured England overpowered a Norway side that took the lead and had a goal ruled out for offside in the sweltering heat conditions.

Norway came into the encounter after seeing off Brazil in the previous round and were seeking for a first Word Cup semi-final appearance, while England looked to return to the last-four stage for the first time since Russia 2018.

However, it was the Vikings that drew first blood in the encounter through Andreas Schjelderup in the 36th minute, the winger’s mishit cross found the top corner via the post to put Norway ahead. England ensured they went into the break level and it was Bellingham with the leveler in first half added time. The Real Madrid star collected Anthony Gordon’s pass and glided past two defenders before slotting a shot low into the far post.

Norway thought it had regained the lead on 54 minutes but the goal was disallowed for a push on Elliot Anderson by Erling Haaland as the corner kick resulting in the goal was taken. They also hit the bar as England were rattled and all over the place following a double change at the start of the second half.

England regrouped to force extra-time where they scored the winner three minutes into the extra 30 minutes.

Substitute Morgan Rogers’ shot from the edge of the area was pushed back into the danger area where Bellingham reacted fastest to slide the ball into the net and send fans into celebration frenzy.

It was Bellingham’s sixth goal of the tournament, and became the youngest English midfielder to score a brace in a World Cup knockout match.

England held on to secure the victory and advanced to the semi-final where they await either Argentina or Switzerland.
