The results, as announced during the collation of votes from the 30 local government areas, showed Adeleke polling a total of 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who recorded 444,815 votes.

The results placed Adeleke ahead of his closest challenger by 66,252 votes based on the aggregated figures from the 30 local government areas.

The election was contested by candidates from several political parties, with Adeleke seeking another term in office under the Accord Party and Oyebamiji flying the APC flag.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the election across the state on Saturday, with the results subsequently collated from the various local government areas.

As the collation progressed, Adeleke maintained an advantage in the number of local government areas won, ultimately taking 19 councils against Oyebamiji’s 11.

The outcome of the local government results, however, remained subject to the formal declaration by INEC of the overall winner of the governorship election.
