According to the police, the arrests followed intelligence received on September 29, 2026, concerning the alleged involvement of a group of individuals in what the command described as “unnatural sexual conduct.”

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State subsequently directed the Command Monitoring Unit to verify the information and take appropriate action, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

The police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly admitted to engaging in homosexual acts.

“Specifically, two of the suspects reportedly confessed to having had carnal knowledge of the third suspect on multiple occasions, with the latter allegedly regarded by them as their ‘wife,’” the statement read.

The command added that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine whether other individuals were connected to the matter.

Reaffirming its commitment to due process, the Oyo State Police Command said the investigation would be conducted “professionally, impartially, and in accordance with the law.”

The police assured the public that all necessary investigative procedures would be followed to establish the facts and determine appropriate action based on the investigation’s outcome.

The command also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist in crime prevention, detection and investigation.
