JUST IN: Tinubu slashes official entourage for local, foreign trips

President Bola Tinubu has ordered drastic reduction in the numbers of security and other officials that would accompany him on local and official trips.

The cut in official entourages also applies to the vice-president, first lady, wife of the vice-president, ministers and heads of government agencies.

Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale who announced the cost cutting measures on Tuesday in Abuja said that the president had ordered that security for local trips would be provided largely by personnel on ground in the states in which the president would be visiting.

This is to reduce the “massive bills” incurred by security operatives travelling from and back to Abuja any when the president visits locations outside the FCT.

He also said that the president had limited the number of persons on his official entourage for foreign trips to 20 whole the vice president can only be accompanied by five persons. Same goes for the first lady and wife of the vice president.

Ministers can only be accompanied by four persons while heads of government agencies are allowed only two staff.
