An Italy-based Nigerian woman identified as Favour Igiebor who purportedly destyed her husband’s passport on arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State has been taken into custody by the Nigerian Immigration Service.
Her arrest, on Wednesday coincided with the release of a video by the husband, on the television platform of the family, claiming that what transpired at the airport was a skit.
The couple had shot another video where there was an altercation between the woman and a supposed mother of the husband over the incident.
The woman was seen coming out of the arrival gate of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja with some NIS operatives.
She was then led into a pick-up van of the NIS and driven away.
In a video posted online, with two of the couple’s three children, the husband said: “What my wife tore is not passport.
“She never tore my passport.
“She never spoilt my passport.
“We are doing a skit.
“This is somebody’s story of what happened that we are passing to the world.
“But I didn’t even know it would go viral.
“Please, I’m begging everybody, this is not passport.
“My passport is intact.
“Nobody should drag this thing to the mud.
“We are sorry.
“We cannot defy the law of Nigeria.
“We are full bonafide Nigerians.
“We cannot go against the law by destroying the passport of Nigeria.
“It is not possible.”
The Instagram page of the family, contained a lot of videos in which they apparently faked quarrels and family situations to generate traffic for suspected monetisation purposes.
