The upscale Banana Island in Ikoyi Lagos was last Saturday set aglow as technology giant, Globacom, sponsored its Starlight Night to usher in the 2024 Yuletide season.

The special event attracted residents and leaders of the community, their friends, corporate partners, and was marked with high-spirited performances by entertainment groups, Art Afrique and SPAN.

Globacom bankrolled the celebration which included the lighting of a Christmas tree and street light boxes across major areas of the island.

While explaining its participation, Globacom said, “Christmas is a time for unity, joy, and togetherness, and as a company, we believe in contributing to the communities where we operate. This is our way of giving back and spreading joy and hope to our fellow Nigerians, especially as we prepare to enter the new year.”

Globacom’s sponsorship of the event brought in the spirit of the Yuletide while it equally underscored the company’s dedication to bringing joy to Nigerian communities during the festive season and beyond.

The Banana Island Property Owners and Residents Association Lagos (Biporal), which organised the event, disclosed that the 2014 edition was the fifth in the series, and was an evening to celebrate Yuletide season with families and friends as well as “a day to reflect on how the year has been, and be thankful for where we are under a beautiful weather”.

The celebration climaxed with Christmas fireworks which lit up the sky with a constellation of dazzling stars and colours.

In addition to this, the event will culminate in the illumination of beautiful Christmas decorative lights and light boxes which will be strategically placed throughout the island’s crucial points.
