A prominent Ekiti community leader and politician, Dr Daniel Olayemi Olayinka is one of the successful candidates being conferred with a doctorate degree today at the prestigious University of Lagos.
Dr Olayinka, a realtor, bagged his doctorate in English Language. He took interest in political semiotics where he studied the language of politics, as deployed by politicians in electoral campaigns and winning support from the electorate. He is no stranger in the political firmament of Nigeria. In 2007, he was nominated for the position of Deputy Governor in Ekiti State. He once contested for the Chairmanship of Ado-Ekiti Local Government, and in 2014, he was appointed Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye.
He is well recognised at Ado-Ekiti where he is involved in various community development projects including helping several youths in their educational pursuits. Annually he sponsors the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB), and West African Examination Council(WAEC) examinations for several youths, many of whom have attained professionalism and high pedestal today. He is the President, Ado-Ekiti Development Council(ADC) which consists of many Ado-Ekiti indigenes across the world.
Olayinka was born to the prominent Olayinka family of Ado-Ekiti on October 3, 1963. His father, Pa Olayinka was a popular public officer who contributed immensely to the building of Ekiti ever before it became a state. He attended Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti where he obtained his secondary school WAEC certificate. He took several professional courses in Computer Science and Estate Management. He had his tutelage in Estate Management under the present Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, HRM Samuel Adejimi Adu.
He subsequently went back to University of Lagos where he obtained his Bachelor’s, Masters, and now Doctorate Degree in English Language. As a mark of his brilliance, the University has already offered him a lecturing job.
